About Thomson Actuarial

At Thomson Actuarial, we speak your language.
Bruce Thomson has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector as a line manager and consultant, across life and general insurance, through wholesale investment strategy to retail financial planning and private superannuation funds.
His expertise as a corporate financial analyst and planner is complemented by his interest and experience in individual financial planning, estate planning and investments.
Bruce holds a B.A. in Actuarial Studies from Macquarie University and a Diploma of Financial Planning. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and currently completing studies with the Governance Institute of Australia.
Why we’re different.
Thomson Actuarial began in 1998, when Bruce made the move into his own business to take advantage of a gap he had identified in the market.
After 20 years with three city-based organisations, where he held line management roles involving insurance, investment and risk management, Bruce wanted to create a business with a real point of difference – and a more personal approach.
Thomson Actuarial was crafted as a suburban and regional actuarial firm for clients who need professional, high quality service and advice – but don’t necessarily want to turn to the ‘big end of town’ for a solution to their problem. Bruce also works with individuals and smaller companies seeking specialist advice with a personal approach.
